currently restoring a 1978 ironhead, Motor stripped and being rebuild due to case/stud issues (studs snapped in case where it mounts to the frame) while I pulled the motor decided on a full rebuild, bike stripped down to bare frame, collected some brand new forks and other parts while i was in the USA last November (interesting getting them back in my luggage) and frame off to powder coating this week

Hey, just thought I'd say hey, I got my 48 on Friday and it's great, the previous owner though made some mods that are not to my taste so i will definitely be changing it up and looking for tips and advice from here,

Hi guys and galls,

Just wanted to quickly introduce myself.
I am Paul and at 40 finally giving in to my midlifecrisis ;).
Born and raised in the Netherlands but have been living on the Caribbean island of Aruba for almost a year now.
I've been exposed to Harley's from a young age as both my uncles had multiple. However, when I got my licence I went the full crotch rocket side.
Did track days, kneedowns, and crazy speeds before realizing that machines like that just dont make sense on the road.
I am fairly mechanically inclined so I turned away from racers towards bratstyle bikes and build my own little 500cc single cilinder Honda on a 3rd floor balcony in Amsterdam.
I didn't take the bike with me when I moved to Aruba about a year ago and I've been aching for a project bike to tinker with.
The lifestyle and roads here are very suitable for a beach Cruiser kind of bike so thats why I am on the lookout for a Harley.
I hope to find an Evo engined softtail but could settle for a Dyna or maybe even a sportster if the price is right. Would want to go beach Cruiser/bobber style so would most likely hardtail a Dyna or sportster.
I will have plenty of questions whenever I do find one so will be on this forum quite a lot.

On my uncles electra glide I think early 90s.

My Honda FT500. Its a 80s 500cc single cilinder. I heavily modified this with other wheels, forks, rear suspension, carb, exhaust, lights, modified frame and seat.

My previous bike was a BMW S1000XR 2022, so this is a completely new type of motorcycle for me.

Newbie from Sweden here. I'm kind of like a Harley, a bit slow but I always get there.

My bike life started with an electric scooter, forced upon me by my spouse about seven years ago. That wasn't very exciting so I tried a smaller combustion bike, a chinese build kit copy of an old Honda CB70. That was fun but not very legal, which led me to buying an old Honda XL500s. But for that I needed a motorcycle permit, it took me about 6 months to acquire. After that I could try and buy whatever bike I wanted, now I have several, including two Harleys. Life's awesome.
