Guys - I have a New to me 2005 FXDLI
dont know Any of its history - except the Security System has been Disabled
by the dealer , and a cruise control has been installed ( by who , I don’t know )
Upon installing a battery tender , I found this box under the seat
it doesn’t have Any markings or part numbers anywhere
it’s getting power by what looks like an old telephone snap connecter
and the other end is plugged into a connecter that looks to be Harley

is this thing a part of the Security Delete - or cruise control

thanks Guys / Gals

Jim

I was riding my 06 Road king with 10,000 miles on it today. I was traveling around 60 miles an hour and it just hiccups for a second all the gauges went to zero the engine stopped and it came right back on. a few minutes later, I pulled into a service station and while leaving the bike running, I got off in a few seconds later it just died. I hit the starter and it started right back up. I rode it 20 miles after that without a problem.Something electrical just hiccups and kills it for a split second. Any ideas?

Hello all,

I got my 07 Ultra Classic out this weekend and fired it up, oil pressure good, etc.. No problems until about 30 seconds in. Lots of smoke underneath and burnt wiring smell.
Shut it down immediately.

The location is on the right bottom side of the bike.
A connection has melted and apparently pulled out from a silver connection. See pics.

I've done a search and can't seem to tell if this is the oil pump, or something else. A little lost on what this wiring controlled or why it melted.
Please give insight so I can tell the shop exactly the issue for when I call to schedule.

Thank you

I'm having a bit of an issue. Last year I changed out the stock headlight for LED and added a set of Driving lights to my wife's 2015 Freewheeler At that time all the lights were working. Last fall we changed the bars and added heated grips. Earlier this year, when we were down south, we noticed that her driving lights weren't working. Fast forward to today, when digging into why they weren't working, found a wiring connector looped back into itself.Sort of like plugging in a power bar to itself. Explains why the lights weren't working. I cut out the connector and connected the lights to the low beam of the LED headlight. When I tried them, I noticed that the headlight is on high beam. Disconnected the driving lights, but headlight is now high beam only.
I read on the inter-webs that the ECM controls the High/Low beam, and it reads the LED & Driving lights as too much load, and switched to high beam only to protect itself, if this is true, do I need to remove any codes off the ECM, and then add in an additional lighting relay?

I have a 2001 Road King (FLHR), replaced all lights with LED and replaced the TSSM with a Custom Dynamics TSM so now it won’t hyperflash. Went that way instead of the inline resistor because my left turn signal does not work, but only when it’s warm out. Thought that may resolve it. No problems in the mornings, or when it’s cold, but by the afternoon, or when it warms up, only the left turn signal does not function. Also, I can’t make 4-way hazards work. The wiring all looks good. Could it be the switch if it works fine when cool?

Update: rested the switch, it works fine, but still no turn signal.

Preference to the inline as space is limited

I've always pondered being able to reliably follow where my bike is in the event some scoundrel decides they need it more than me. I've seen several makes in the past but either the unit itself or the service for doing the actual tracking was more expensive than my wallet could handle. Then recently I came across a unit called Monimoto and it's both relatively inexpensive and the tracking service is the same. The unit ( I got the Monimoto 9) and the FOB come in a box that's only about 6" X 6" X 1" and the pieces themselves are about 1.5 X 3 X .75 and it will fit darned near anywhere on the bike. The only requirement is that no metal covers it because it uses both cell connection and satelite connection so it get GPS info. The unit was only $179 and the service is only $50 a year. After I installed the software on my phone and got it set up and all connected between the phone and the unit (both the unit and the FOB have internal batteries so there's no connection to the electrical system on the bike) I took it for a test spin of about 20 miles or so without the FOB so it was in alarm mode. It immediately called my phone to tell me the bike had been move and was moving. I finally stopped at my church to see what the tracking said and it showed me where I had been and where I stopped. It even showed a picture of the location where I stopped the bike with the cross streets where I was at. Anyone who is looking for such a device but doesn't want to spend a bunch should at least check out the thing.

Hoping some folks here may have tips I can try to sort this out. I had called CD this week to sort an issue with the LED's not having much of a difference between run/brake (using the TFC2 or TFC3 module with hardly any difference) and they suggested the Smart Triple Play (CD-TPU-SS-HD).

For what it's worth, the previous owner added the stretched fender & bags and had chopped up the rear wiring a fair bit. The harness appears to be in tact and I've put the STP inbetween the connectors, which then goes to an unmarked black box (I believe this is the TSM? 5 wires input and 4 wires output) then wires split between left and right rear fender. There is no center tail light, just two custom cut embedded lights (left/right) and two LED strips on the bags just below the lid lip (both are CD Trueflex red two-wire lights). Prior to flipping in the STP module there was a TFC2 module on each side to give the run/brake/turn function and worked fine, with the exception that light intensity was hardly different between run and turn/brake.

So, I have the STP installed and working great for run/turn, but have no brake light functionality. I've tried the reset procedure and all four SW-1/SW-2 settings and the most I get out of it is a single blink when brakes applied and then all lights go off. If I turn on either signal the lights work as expected, but with brake held there is no brake light function (with signals on or off).

I'm going to call CD again on Monday when they open up, but hoped someone may have some ideas I can try while waiting for Monday?
