Oil light won't go out
Hi All,
Just new to the forum.
I've just got myself a WLA. It's a beauty, it had an engine rebuild about 25 years ago and did about 200 miles before it was emptied of fuel and oil and put into storage.
I've just gone over it and checked everything I could think of. Points and advancer, ignition timing, valve timing, plugs (put a little oil in each cylinder and it turned over nicely), fuel filter, etc.
Put a battery, oil and fuel in it and kicked it over.
4 or 5 kick, a bit of a splutter, a little blue smoke and it was away.
It idles fine and sounded good,no unusual noises.
But the oil pressure light didn't go off. i shut it down after about 1 min.
I looked in the oil tank while it was running but can't see oil returning, but I'm not sure where it returns to. I couldn't see the return pipe or outlet.
How long should it take for the light to go off in this situation? do i need to prime the pump is any way?

Nice bike.
I have had multiple oil sending units, either the light never goes out or it never comes on. But I know my pump is working and returning oil so I stopped worrying about it. Simple check, while riding and she is warmed up, take off the oil cap, she will give you some smoke. Also you can feel the return line and oil tank to see if is hot. Good luck.
