WL45 year 1942 or 1950
Can you help me?
I am making arrangements to purchase a Harley WL and I'd like your advice help me with.
I have 2 options:
WL´45 of 1942 (blue-white) and 1950 (red-white) and both are 750cc. Find attach pictures.
The year 1942 appears from the photos that are better preserved than 1950.
The year 1942 would pay $ 1,000 more than the year 1950.
The 1942 has more chrome and better preserved than the year 1950.
But the question is, the bikes made in '50, with the latest models of WL45, had some engine development and performance better than the 40?
if you really WL45 motors 50 had better development than the year 40, I would choose the newest, and I get $ 1,000 less and this difference could restore it, even if it takes six months to make, but if you engines have the same characteristics, I think is the best option that is best preserved.
I pass some pictures of both engine status, if it's any help (which is more oxidized is the year 1950).

Those bikes both appear to have a bunch of aftermarket parts and WLA has been civilianized (both factors lower value). I would be very careful and have someone who really knows and restores 45's look at them (not a dealer). No differences in basic motors. You would not be able to restore one of these for $1,000. They are good as "riders" at the right price, but would have much lower value than if more original. Just don't pay too much, bike with original parts would be worth more. Good luck.
