There seem to be a lot of new members that are asking questions, then never return to reply to the answers. Many of them seem to have email addresses as their member names. Some of them have links in the postings that take you to shopping sites, eg.

This crap detracts from a great forum.

Why would he return after all of that?

 

His profile shows the last time he was here was the exact time of the post that started the thread. Nothing to show he ever came back and saw the responses.

 

I guess he can't look at the forums without logging on.

 

We both know he can. We don't know that he did. I thought that was the point, for your example.

EDIT: In general, though, I agree. I've seen other threads that go the same way, and it doesn't encourage newbies to hang around. On the other hand, we've had some lately that don't return to threads with real advice.
