It was not my decision but a collective decision from Committee Team members; all agreed the oil forum should go; none disented. Can you imagine the cluster ***** would ensue if the Community Team deferred to the forum members on issues like this? The oil forum is pretty much a **** show any way you look at it and, IMHO, mostly mis-information based on biased opinions. Members can still post oil threads wherever they would like and carry on with any members that decide to follow the thread.

Of course it is a **** show, but this forum also has other **** shows that aren`t even about motorcycles, full of off topic nastiness which seems to be fine with management...
The problem with removing the Oil section is now the oil **** show is going to be in every section of the forum.

Can't disagree with your first point but WRT to removing the Oil section, JMHO, oil threads, over time, will slowly go away without a specific section for them.
It is impossible to have any forum, much less a Harley forum without "**** shows". I am a zero tolerance believer and if I were king for a day, I would manage the forum that way but I am not. I am a member of a team that answers to management and as a member of that team I offer input as to the others to the next level of management wherein the final decision on forum matters is made. So, it is what it is and forum members just have to operate within the forum guidelines.
If a member wants to make suggestions, criticisms or comments in general to management, there is a way to do that.

I don`t really care that it is now only an archive, but I think it is like you guys nailed the trash can lid shut, and now the trash is going to be dumped somewhere else.
Maybe someone could go through the stickies and get rid of all the outdated and irrelevant stuff there, since it will be frozen in time.

That remains to be seen; time will tell but I think you are wrong.

We have discussed going through the stickies and a few have been deleted, meaning they are still open to view but posting is not permitted. There are varying opinions on what is outdated or irrelevant, so there's that. There may be more outdated and irrelevant "stuff" there and maybe the team should take another whack at it. However, I see nothing wrong with leaving them open for viewing anyway, harmless.

in time.
I hate to say it, but I agree with Dan. We should keep it on the wrong side of the tracks. If you don't want to take part in an oil thread don't click on that thread. I rarely do myself. But I came from a generation that was raised to change the channel if you don't like it. Why are we catering to the people who can't handle an oil thread?
People are not going to quit asking oil questions. Many people simply have questions about it, which why there are so many oil threads, probably on ever mechanical forum on the internet. Sure many think it doesn't matter what oil you use, but that is not going to stop new people from asking it.
Go to the store, and see now many brands there are.
