Default Drawing a blank re: wheel spacer lengths for '00 RK w/08 Swingarm

Hi all. Been a while for me. Truth is my bike's been so damn reliable I haven't had any need for the infinite wisdom here. Hell...thing's so reliable I damn near can't remember what a wrench looks like!

Anyway...

2000 FLHR
2006 swingarm (or 2008, can't remember. same, no?)
2008 brake assembly. the brembo one, reamed to fit the:
2002 or whatever rear wheel ie 1" axle.

I am pretty sure there are no issues with components or installation, EXCEPT, when I did the swap I somehow got myself in a big ol' toomuchthinkin situation and had myself convinced I'd need custom length spacers. I am certain the wheel is a tad bit right toward the pulley side.

So today I'm puttin on a tire and remember the spacer debacle. hasn't been an issue, but it's time to rectify...

Do I need custom spacers? For a second I thought the standard 1"ers would do but the Brembo bracket is a good chunk wider than the previous years, SO...

anyone? I'll buy you a beer or two I promise!

Thanks in advance

Are you also using the 25mm Right Rear spacer (bored to 1") with the Brembo bracket? (you must be)

btw, the Brembo bracket is thinner than the previous years' 1" one piece caliper/bracket

I apologize for not responding sooner.

I can't remember whether the pre-brembo bracket was narrower or wider, so you're probably right. I didn't hone any spacers.

I ended up just using the custom build way. Took off the seat, bags and fender. Centered the wheel w/ caliper bracket (eyeballed using a twine) only (clamped the bracket snug) then used a telescoping gauge to get the measurements.

Funny thing is - back when I did the swingarm swap is when I did all the over-thinking. The "from scratch" way works fine, but also...I think all that's necessary in this situation (02 up forks, 08 brakes) is to simply modify the brake side spacer to account for the difference in bracket widths.

I overthink **** too often.

Thanks for responding, man. No disrespect intended on the delayed response.

Yeah, when you have all the parts (or the dimensions are available) it's easy to just perform a comparative dimensional analysis and move part dimensions around.

And yes, in this case you would have just made a special R.Rear 1" ID spacer (or could have modified an original 25mm if you had it). The needed spacer would be ~.030 thinner than the original '08-later 25mm spacer width because the 08-later wheels position the right side bearing ("primary" bearing) ~.030" differently.

Guilty of many times "over thinking"...It's a blessing and a curse

Thx for getting back

darnit, man...you triggered the thinking demon.

If the 08 bracket is narrower than the previous years w/ 1" axles and I had OEM spacers for a 1" setup...wouldn't the brake side spacer need to be longer than supplied?

narrower bracket at axle = need to fill gap?

Disclaimer: "Dimensions are ~approximate, within a couple thou"

1.683" = .946 + .737 ('08 Bracket + '08 spacer)
1.650" = 1.180 + .470 (02-07 Bracket/Cal + spacer

Btw that .033" is accounted for in that the Bearing location is different between the wheels by that ~.033".

So...
If you used the '08 bracket and 02-07 spacer you have 1.416"... way too short.

I'm using this as a reference for my 17x4.5" swap with Brembo brake.
