Default Shovelhead in Evolution Frame

There is a nice santee frame I would like to buy, but documentation states it will only fit evolution motors and softail transmissions, and I have a shovel. I am willing to replace the tranny if need be (I have a 81' 5spd tranny) but not the shovel. From what I know (and that ain't much) there is no diffrence between the shovelhead and evolution in terms of motor mounts.
If a frame will fit an evolution, will it fit a shovel?

Thanks in advance.

I believe it will fit....but cannot gurantee it though. If your Shovel has the nose cone found on the EVO....it really ought to fit. The Shovel and EVO are very similar anyways.

The motor mounts are probably the same. The motor mounts used on the Electra Glides are the exact same ones used on the 1980 FLT. The early FXR's had the Shovelhead, that same frame housed the EVO as well with no changes in the frame.

If an EVO will fit, A Shovel should fit as well.

i think EVO is right; shovel in an evo will work BUT evo in a shovel will take at least 1 frame mod. the rear cylinder exhaust will not clear.

I was thinking that as well. It is soooooo close....but yet so far away from fitting. Shovel in EVO frame will work fine. EVO will work in many Shovel frames....but most require a frame modifications.

It will **fit** into the frame like the guys say. But it may well be down to the mounting points....

You don't say if it is a replica softail, replica FXR or hardtail frame....

Evo motor is taller. Shovel mtr will fit in place of an Evo, but not visa versa.
