Default Rear frame / swingarm question

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but I can't find a diagram in the service manual to prove it.

On a Rushmore touring bike, does the swingarm attach directly to the frame, or indirectly by connecting to the transmission housing? Can anyone help me find a diagram showing the connection, other that the axle itself?

Thanks.

Your swingarm is mounted directly to the transmission casing, via the swingarm axle, which in turn is mounted into the frame via rubber mountings. In essence the engine/trans unit rocks in the frame on the rubber-mounted swingarm axle. Hope that helps!

That is exactly what I thought... any idea where to find a diagram? I have to show someone else; someone not a "motorcycle person".

That's a perfectly reasonable question - if only it was easy to provide an answer! This is an engine/trans unit, with the s/a mounting hole, to the left, in which the s/a axle is a running fit:

If you look at one of the parts websites you can see a breakdown of the frame and rubber components that match up to that hole. I haven't found anything better, sorry about that!
