I've always noticed a whine in curves with Dunlop D402 tires on this bike and my previous RK. Your tires are smaller, but they would be my first suspect.

Default RE: Whine noise from front in curves

G'day,
My 06 dyna , (stock tires), has the whine, I noticed that the front tire was badly schamfered / worn high ,low. The back tire was a little uneven also. The noise was driving me crazy, only in corners as you said. I replaced the rear tire at about 10,000 and the noise was a little less, the front is due in a few months, so i will have to wait till then to find out the truth. What bothers me is that i don't know why the tire was so damaged when, (nowday), i ride gently and check pressure regularly. I did notice that the rear wheel aligment was way out from the factory, but i'm not sure if that would cause front tire wear ??. I'm not rich enough to through away half worn tires , so i'll P.M. you, ( if you like), when i get the definitive answer. Strangely I have never read any other post on this........anyone else????

Graham.

Default whine in curves

I had the same whine in my 91 FLHS, and my 07 Road King. Both had Dunlop402 tires. Went to Avons and whine is gone. Avons seem a bit twitchy on pavement cracks so will go to Metzelers next.

If you have 10000 miles on original tires, time to upgade em. Start there and see if it solves the problem.

Front tires generally have some cupping in the tread by 10,000 miles and is probably what you are hearing. Noisy and aggravating but not dangerous.

I also notice the sound on my 05,but I run the Michelin Commanders, just figured it was the sound of a good grip.

I replaced both front & rear D402's and I have a strange whine now too. But I honestly didn't connect the sound with the tires. Is your whine a steady pitch? My whine modulates... sorts whoop..whoop..whoop.

I put Metzlers on my SuperGlide and I really loved the tires until the noise showed up... about 8,500 miles on front and rear...

Lean left or right and they whine...
