Powdercoating shocks?

Is this a bad idea? I'd like to black out my shocks, but don't want to get paint in places that it shouldn't be. Or risk damaging the shocks. I've considered aftermarket, but those tend to get expensive and i'm pretty happy with the stock ones. Any suggestions?

You will need to completely dismantle before p.c., the seals and oil wont hold up well to the 350 to 400 degree curing temps.

Bad idea. The internal shock components can't handle the heat.

You can buy black Progressive 412s for less than 200 bucks, and I guarantee you'll like them better than the stockers.
