Default 160/60-16 rear tire for an ultra classic

Is it possible to put a 160/60 rear tire on an ultra classic?

I assume you meant a 160/80B16?

If you did, then not likely.

I don't think that a 160/80B16 would fit on a stock Harley rim...and even if it did, or you got a rim that would fit it, you would probably not have enough clearance without other modifications to your bike, like the brake stayarm, the exhaust mounts, etc.

Do not...I repeat...DO NOT try a 150/80B16...!!! Even though it should fit on a stock Harley rim, it doesn't have sufficient load capacity to be safe to use with a fully-loaded Ultra.

Ride safe!

Default 160/80b16

It actually has a 932lb load capacity according to Dunlop's sight.

Yeah, but I was trying to steer everyone clear of using a 150mm instead...! Using the Load information you mentioned, here is why...

The 160mm tire has a Load Index of 80, meaning it can hold up to 932 lbs. of gross weight at maximum PSI.

However, the 150mm tire has a Load Index of 71, meaning it can hold up to 761 lbs. of gross weight at maximum PSI.

That would mean, that even at maximum inflation, you will have compromised the weight allowance by 171 lbs.! Such a tire mounted on an Ultra-Classic would be instantly overloaded. If it was also just a bit under-inflated, then there is a big problem...!

Ride Safe!

Nope.

An alpha-numeric MU85B16 rear tire is very similar to a 140/90B16, and as such their load ratings are also very similar, but not a 150. Not even close!

Check out the different ratings. I know there is a lot of talk about the E 3's on the big touring bikes. I am seriously considering them on mine next time around.
