NightmareHD,
I just put a chromed Deuce rear wheel and tire on my 2001 FXST using the stock fender. The rim is 17x4.5 and the tire is a 160. Check out this thread for all the info on what I did and pictures . https://www.hdforums.com/m_167298/mpage_3/tm.htm If you have any questions fell free to ask. Later.

With the help of Butch, I am doing the same thing ... going from a stock 130 on the 16 inch rim to a stock 160 on the Deuce 17 inch rim.

A few things I picked up along the way.

Deuce Rear Spacer (Left) = HD part number 41595-00
Deuce Rear Spacer (Right) = HD part number 43654-00
Deuce Rear Brake Caliper = HD part number 44441-00D

Per HD directly, all Softails are equiped with a 3/4 inch rear axle. I was told by Corporate Customer Service that the Softail line hasn't changed. A good thing to know when parting these things out on ebay.

Like Butch, I bought my rim pretty cheap. $125 in fact, from ebay with an aluminum rim, tire and chromed sprocket.

Your stock brake rotor will fit, direct bolt on. Be sure to use loctite or equivenent.

I'm still working on my project, waiting to find the rear brake caliper cheaper than $187 from a discount HD OEM parts dealer.

Hope this helps.

Ray

I bought them off ebay for $110 and they were already painted. The pipes are V&H Big Shot Staggered and the heat shields & end caps are painted with HD high temp rattle can spray. I can tell you that the paint stands up very well. The only thing I notice is a little scuffing where my boot heel bumps the pipe.

Smelled funny at first, when the paint was "baking" on

Ultravista, did the Deuce tire conversion work for you? I see that you sold a deuce rim and tire recently and wasn't sure if it didn't work.

XLR8R, the rim sold was an extra. I bought one locally and won one through ebay. Go figure [:@]

I am waiting on the Deuce rear caliper and spacers to arrive, then I can start the conversion. I'll keep the thread updated as I move forward.

The Deuce rear caliper comes with what the seller thinks are the rear wheel spacers. He wasn't sure but included them in the purchase. I'll have to contact HD to get the specs on the size (length) of each spacer.

Thanks for the info! I am currently trying the same conversion and wanted to know before I bought any more parts.

I bought the spacers off a guy on ebay but the package was lost in transit. So the project has been put on hold for a few days. Can't wait to get started.

Ultra,
Nice to see you got all the parts for the swap, did you find a good deal on a Caliper or did you buy new? Good luck with it, its one of the best things I did to my Softail. I'm really thinking about going with a wider fender this winter and putting a 180 Sceaming Eagle tire on the Deuce rim, but I'm happy with the 160 for now, thats what should have been there stock!!!! Let me know how you make out.

Butch
