Default Identify Fork Springs

How can I determine what springs are in my forks? I'm the 3rd owner of an 01 XL883C and the guy I bought it from told me that the original owner "lowered it" but didn't know any more than that. I just replaced my stock rear with 11.5" Progressive 412's and before I do anything with the front I'd like to know what's in there.

I don't think any springs are marked or have part numbers so its very hard to tell. My guess would be to check them and if there progressively wound they are after market.
Good Luck
