Can't disassemble slider

This is starting to suck. I can't separate the fork slider from the tube on my Wide Glide.

I've rebuilt identical forks several times and this set once before. I was able to get the first one apart with little trouble, but did notice that the bushings started jamming together. Now this fork I've worked on for over an hour last night, and nearly the same tonight. I'm guessing that the bushing on the end of the tube is being jammed inside the slider's bushing. Any tips on how to separate this thing would be appreciated.

Gotta ask - You did remove the 6mm bolt from the bottom of the slider and the retaining clip from thr top?

I'm glad someone asked. And yes...I've removed the bolt and clip...and damper tube. Still cannot get it apart.

And howdy neighbor!

Well if you would like to bring it by maybe the two of us can get it apart. At the worst you would have help cursing at it.

Use the lower as a slide hammer. It'll eventually break loose. :)

I gave up...or broke down...and ended up buying new fork tube assemblies. Got it on the road Tuesday night.

You got the damper rod out? Then you got the lower sperated from the fork tube.

The damper tube and top out spring keeps the fork from extending too far. Once the metric fastener at the bottom of the slider is removed, the damper tube and spring are allowed to come out. The slider and tube are then able to be slide hammered to separate...normally. Not this one. It's jammed.

Here's the bushings out of the first tube assembly I was able to get apart. Notice how the first 1/8" liner material is missing from each bushing. That's the jamming that's occurring. One bushing is slipping into the other instead of driving it out. Nevermind the mosquito.
