Front Rotor

Front Rotor
I have an '08 Street Bob and I was told that the front rotor was warp and needed to be replaced. The pads were good and I was told they didn't need to be replaced if the rotor was replaced. My question is can someone tell me how a rotor can get a warp place in it and does that sound correct that if the rotor is changed you don't have to change the pads if they're good? You can tell it is by the by the bike feels like it's going over bumps when you apply the brake. I didn't realize bike rotor's were that more expensive than an automobile rotor.

As far as I know it is. My son bought it a couple of weeks ago and test drove it but didn't think to mention it to the seller. Someone told me that maybe the previous owner rode the front brake harder than he should have and didn't use the back brake enough. If he was grabbing the front brake that hard I'm surprise he never flipped it which I've heard can happen.

We don't stand and look at auto rotors! They are also made in much larger quantities than bike ones, so get economy of scale. An affordable replacement is to buy a factory floating rotor, which is more durable and comes with new fasteners. It is good practice to use new pads with a new rotor, but if you have plenty of thickness you should be fine.
