Trying to change out the fork seals on my 07' Fatboy. Have the first fork off and am trying to remove the spring clip that hold in the seals. I've seen the online videos and have read the service manual over and over, but nothing seems to describe the problem.

The spring clip to be removed (part #11 in the manual picture) is supposed to be accessible via spring clip removers or a small screwdriver. The YouTube videos all show an FX tube and it's right there to pull out.

What I'm seeing is that the spring clip is like 1.3 to 1.5 inches below this ring mounted to the lower tube. It has one hole in it. I tried turning it with my shock spanner wrench and it will move, but it is extremely tight.

See the pics. How do I get to the spring clip and release it with it 1.3" below the lip? Am I supposed to remove that ring or do I need a special tool to reach 1.3" down and pick it out?
