The side stand on my 94 is way touchy. By that I mean the stand wants to snap up to the ride position if I take my foot off the stand while leaning the bike on it after stopping. This during that short time before the stand locks into the detent.
In the parts manual there is a secondary bracket 50064-91 and another spring 50005-85A that I don't see under the bike. What is the purpose of the secondary bracket and spring?
I did get under the bike and found the secondary bracket and spring so it is there. Still haven't figured the engineering involved with the secondary bracket and spring.
I fabricated a 2" block and added it to the bottom of the kick stand, much better. Now the detent catches much earlier. Before addition of the 2" block the bike would be at the angle point of no return before the detent caught.
Since no one knows what the secondary bracket and spring is for I did some more looking and found this.
1991 and Later FXR Models use (2) Kickstand Springs… The Secondary Spring Bracket is the Direct Attachment for the second spring which then mounts to the Spring Anchor (Sold On Our Site) to keep the HD Jiffystand in nice and tight working order.
Over time and changing of ownership… this part has gotten lost or misplaced and therefore you end up with a Kickstand that just flops around while you are riding!
Well no more… Add this little guy to you kickstand hardware line up and correct that issue for good!
