Default FXRT Insurance Coverage

Getting the old girl on the road tomorrow, I have it insured but they would not talk about value if wrecked or stolen - they said value would comparable to another bike. We know the values vary wildly based on who you talk to - what are you guys using to cover your RT's? Haggerty offers "agreed value" coverage, any other recommendations ? Thanks.

I went through something like this when I insured my 1967 Corvette Stingray. Insurance companies were offering me some attractive rates...UNTIL I asked the same question about the settlement if ( God Forbid) my Corvette was stolen or totaled. All of a sudden they got REAL vague. I started hearing comments like "Well, you know it's an old Chevy..." , or "Well...you gotta figure it's an old car". That's when I'd hang up the phone or get up and leave their office. I finally found an agent that offered "Stated Value" coverage. I got a local Corvette Specialty shop to go over the car and provide a written statement of value. That's what the company agreed to pay in the event of a total loss. It wasn't cheap and periodically requires updating, which increases premiums. Policies like that may also include specifications regarding storage and USE ( how many miles, etc).
I've not gone that far with my 1985 FXRS btw. It's an old bike and hasn't been restored in any way...just ridden...A LOT.

You need to insure it at a declared value. You will pay more but then you are covered for at a higher amount.

JD Power has what I consider acceptable values that an insurance carrier should agree to accept.
