I saw what?

I was out for my usual ride today with temps in the 30's but light fog and sweating road surfaces.

I was at a T stop intersection with the red light. I was going to turn left when it changed. Before it did a HD police rig with a state trooper on went by waiving.

I followed but he turned off on a county road which would be the closest route to the HD dealer. I went straight and then about 8 miles later turned south to get coffee at the dealer. It is a wide state road with little traffic. Since I had just approached 3K on the Freewheeler, I thought I would let it run at a faster pace than I usually do.

Got to the dealer, took my outer gear off and had been looking at four tables with parts and accessories for as far back as the 60's. Most packages were yellowed. The pure white price labels looked to have a very modern price.

Lots of stuff for FXR's.

Up rode the Trooper. He came in to warm up some. He could hardly move his arms in his many layers under his Jacket.

The Trooper mentioned that this morning when he started that the bridges on I-80 had ice on them.

I was very surprised that the State would have a bike out at this time of year. He never mentioned that he went a short cut and I was still there long before he arrived.

Lucky guy gets paid to ride.

That is odd that he was out on his bike. Maybe his patrol car was in for service?

Maybe the captain was pissed at him and thought that was a punishment? BWAAA! :icon_laugh:

I used to see a motor officer around the 19-26 mile marker on I-80,[19 mm is Geneseo] but only in nice weather.

I used to live in Houston Texas. Another whole part of the world from Illinois. I would see HPD motor cops in all kinds of weather all year long. I mean. That was their job. And they were proud of it.Proud to be a motor officer. That was a long time ago. Maybe they have gone pussified, like the rest of the world.:icon_shrug:

Although I'm in Florida, our county motor officers ride all the time and take pride in there job and bikes, most of them wave too. Their bikes have aftermarket mufflers and downloads on them too.

I rode all winter long in Nor Cal..often temps in the 30's when I started my shift in the morning. Coldest ride was 17 degrees. You just ride for 30 min and then find a Starbucks and sit there to warm up for 30 min.

I guess he "rides to work and works to ride"...:icon_mrgreen:
