Default Help, need to know on new purchase

I'm picking up a 2007 rkc w/factory custom paint, the paint lists for $2999 in the HD wishbook. Now as I see it, since I'm paying msrp for the bike and they are adding $2999 plus labor for the custom paintedtank and fendersshouldn'nt I get to keep the original ones? I mean if I already had the bike, and I bought newcustom painted tank and fenders I'd get to keepthe originals.
Picking it up friday. Help.

You keep the original tins. It's no different than waiting 6 months and then ordering them and having them put on. You paid for the bike and everything that comes with it and you should get to keep all the parts. Now if they're willing to give you credit for the factory tins and take the money off the price of the new tins than you might be able to deal. It's on your decision not the Dealers. Just my .02

only problem with this is YOU have to tell them to put the parts in a box for you because you're taking them ! if they can get your parts for nothing then they'll do it.

Oh yeah, jkmullen...those are your tins! Be sure to get them back in the boxes that the new ones were shipped in! Or...make a deal for a huge credit on the new ones!

Good luck...

Good news. Sales guy said the original tins are sitting in bubble wrap in the other tins box. Sez he's already got my name on them, ready for me to pick up. My sales guy seems to be working for me. Very helpful, straight forward. I'll post after its all said and done, with results.

It depends on the custom paint. I know that if you want the California Kid flames, you have to send in your tins to be repainted.

In reading posts #7 & #8 above, it's kind of sad that we (as consumers) have become so conditioned to mediocrity - with regard to the service industry - that we are actually taken aback when we are given what should be considered to be 'expected levels of service' in the first place.

Always request that any/all 'take offs' be returned to you each and every time you have the dealer install or replace a component.
