Helmet buffeting Street Glide Solved

Helmet buffeting Street Glide Solved
I've spent 3 years trying to solve a head buffeting problem with my 2009 street glide. I rode home with a HD optional windshield and didn't know what was happening to me. I pulled over to see if something was wrong with the bike. Something had to be out of balance. My head shook so hard my eyeballs where scrambled. after some reading I realized it was helmet (head buffeting) created by a series of things. I put wind deflectors on my batwing and between the forks. tried 10 different windshields and finally settled on an 11" re-curve that I look thru..... Problem solved.... But I didn't like looking thru the windshield but it was better than the alternative. Finally a friend said try the lower fork wind deflectors. I said no, it looks like a Mac truck from the front so I resisted. then HD came out with a redesign and I tried them; PROBLEM REALLY SOLVED. I put my original 6" windshield on and ride 80MPH no buffeting.... It's like a new bike.
Now I have lower knee fairings on my street glide so don't no how that would effect someone that doesn't have them. Another interesting fact is Harley fitment says it doesn't work with lower fairings but their wrong. it works perfectly and you can turn wheel stop to stop and they don't hit the lower fairing. I hope this helps someone out.....

Having your head bounce around can wear you out and make even a short ride seem very long.
I don't have a windshield...and never will...but when I got my current helmet, the shape of it stopped all of the "bobble head" crap. I had a perfectly round helmet before and I put up with my head bouncing around and just thought it was normal. But when I traded in an old helmet for this one...world of difference. I couldn't even tell the wind was even blowing.
