Default What a surprise... A dealer totally pissed me off

Not looking for sympathy.... Just venting... This is a double prong pissed off! lol..

Unsolicited, a friend of mine offered to buy my bike at full market value. Im like ok, its yours. I bought the bike about 18 months a go used, and he offered me my full purchase price + 75% of the cost of my mods less any labor. Fair deal, we shake on it... He gives me a deposit. Well he was supposed to pick it up Tuesday, then Thursday the Friday - He welched on the deal. Im pissed I told him sue me for the 500.00 binder.

Now the fun part... One of my clients for my guitar shop is a sales guy for a local HD dealer. I hook him up every time the wind blows and he wants a new axe. I give him 80 - 90% on trade and keep him happy. I've also bought 5 bikes from him over the years, got a fair deal each time but not great - that's ok, its not his store. Today the dealer just pissed me off. I was nosing around on a either street glide or a road king. I needed to trade in my Heritage to make it happen. Its an 04, 5k miles, clean as the day it rolled off the assembly line and has about 5k worth of work. Keep in mind I bought the bike from them, they did all the mods and they do all my service. They had a POS 2003 100th Anniversary Heritage with 40k miles for 11k and a nice 2005 with 15k miles for 13.8k. What do they offer me on trade? 5500.00.... 5500 are you kidding me... The insult to injury, the service write up on the trade inspection said I needed service done that was never performed! UM I just paid them to do it!

Im pissed at the dealer, took my bike on a 100 mile lap and waxed her up. My bike, I still love, the touring bike will wait... Just wait until my "salesman buddy" sees his itemized non-discounted repair bill on his guitar.. Fuggers..

I know I know...
Just venting..

Get that alot........having a shop, "friends" always want me to work on their cars for free. But when I go to use their business its always............."oh I will take 10% off my service" ya thats why you now pay full price at my shop

Just got off the phone with one of the freeloaders. Him and my other "friend" are working on his car tomorrow. Better them then me

I would not give this guy any discount whatsoever

I make a point of making friends and family pay full retail price, or paying full retail for it myself. There are no discounts.

This eliminates both awkward conversations and accounting headaches.

I used to give friends eye exams for free. Then I would see them riding down the street on toys I couldn't afford. I only give my exam away to immediate family or my 2 best friends now.

Uncle Kebo, I don't know where XX is, but used bikes sure seem expensive there,
Anyway $11k for a 03 Heritage with 40K miles, that would be about $7500-8K, and an low mileaged 05 Heritage maybe 8-9K here in Florida. Maybe you should sell your bike in XX and come on down and pick up a used touring model here.
Do you ever look at the used bike prices on CycleTrader?

Your '04 with only 5k miles is still a new bike. You should be able to sell it easily. Then go shop.

I usually only do work for work trades among friends. Only been burned a few times. Never burned twice by the same guy.

No. It's an 11 year old bike. That NADA says is worth $8k retail. Sounds fair to me.

Mods mean nothing on trade in. Common knowledge.

5k miles, but still 11 years old. You had to have known, somewhere in the back of your mind, they were going to hit you low.

XX is in NJ. The prices on used bikes at this place was criminal. Their new allotment is dwindling so theyre making it up on used iron. I agree with the prices mentioned above.. I just got totally ired that my bike was severly under valued and their stuff was usury.. ..
