It's like a cancer. White corrosion grows on the chrome. Top motor mount is flaking apart. Motor bolts corroded. Paint on oil tank is totally bubbled. Bought new. Never in the rain let alone in the ocean. Kept clean. Garage kept. Super low miles. Never hot. It's like they dipped it in dog **** at the factory. Took it to the dealer just out of warranty on the paint. " Too bad, so sad".

 

Plating done in China. Cheaper, and no worries about OSHA or the EPA.

Do you store chlorine in your garage?

 

I have an '07 with 60k on the ODO. Except for a few bolts, I have none of this. Maybe the MoCo changed some processes by '11?

Same thing happened to a friend of mine. Stored his pool chlorine near his bike and crudola happens.

 

here in florida there is always alot of corrosion, but thats because i am on the beach. the salt air is a killer...not much you can do to stop it once it starts.. clean it all off the bike repaint the tank and keep it as protected as possible

 

Is it humid in Kentucky?

 

This could be a very good answer. Chlorine in the garage is a BIG no no !
