Default Warranty coverage question

I have to bring the scoot in tomorrow to the dealer. I believe the issue is the shifter shaft seal,im getting a small leak under the primary, but anyways to my question. Could they deny me coverage on my extended warranty because of aftermarket shifter linkage? I hear some horror stories about harley and how they can be with the warranty when guys have a bunch of stuff done to their bikes. Just looking for some opinions, thanks.

It's entirely up to the dealer and what they tell the insurance company.

Keep in mind that HD is warrantying their parts and their workmanship. If you have had something done, especially aftermarket, that may be involved in what is wrong with the bike, why should HD warranty it? It's no longer their part/assembly/ workmanship that necessarily failed. Can you prove that it was their part or workmanship that caused the problem as opposed to the aftermarket part or workmanship?
Not trying to jump on you, just explaining the manufacturer's warranty position.

Thanks for the fast response. I hope they dont give me an issue over it considering it is a known issue.

When you upgraded to the aftermarket shifter linkage did you happen to keep the OEM linkage? If you did you could always put it back on the bike long enough to take it in to the dealer, problem solved. One of the first things I did to my '13 was upgrade to shift linkage with Heim joints and I threw the OEM in a tool box as a back up

Don't see how a different shift linkage could cause your shaft seal to leak--a shifter is a shifter.

I'd be surprised if the dealer refused to warranty it. The claim is money in his pocket. When I have had a dealer hesitate in the past, the MoCo & the insurance company that backs up Harley's ESP were both pretty lenient, warranteed the repair, & didn't give any hassle. Just my experience.

did you pay your money and do the transfer when you bought your bike? if not, then it isn't your warranty, and they may deny you for that. also remember, the first $50 is on you.
