Michelin Commander II's tire wear results after 13.2 K on our Heritage
I just changed out my Michelin Commander II's tires two days ago..
My first 4 Dunlops 401's REAR tires lasted 10K each.. the rear Mich's Commands II's lasted 13,200 which was better wearing, but was cupped pretty bad for the last 3-4 K and had right at 2/32nd's tread left...
My first 2 Dunlops 402's on the FRONT went 20K miles easy and still had almost 3/32nd's tread left and could have went more if I wanted to leave them on....BUT at 13K the front Commands II's was worn out and cupped more than the rear and need replaced ASAP.. it only had right at 1/32nd's left.
I went with some of the newer Dunlops American Touring Elites this time.. I'll see how they do...

It's funny how different folk have different experiences with the tyres. The Dunlops for me were shockingly bad; terrible grip and fast to wear. I was expecting the former (as apparently they are designed for average US weather and road conditions, which are a poor match for UK/Europe). But I expected to get more miles out of them as a result.
Avons are superior to Dunlop (FOR ME) in every respect; better grip, better longevity. Oh yes, and they were actually CHEAPER than the Dunlops. Win-win-win

The other difference is how warm the tires are getting. If you are riding at 85 mph on the Florida highways in the middle of July, you are going to get less mileage out of them if you were riding at 55 mph on the Maine highways in early spring.
