Got home last night. Total mileage was at 1,972 miles. While in Gulfport found out a buddy of mine was stationed in New Orleans, thought he was still in Washington state. Anyway went and visited, got to go on to a Navy base for first time since 1999, did have to go through a background check and check my gun at the armory. I guess I was a little worn out on Wednesday, had 644 miles which is my longest ever in one day. Had to take more rest stops than usual, mostly because my ankles and feet were getting sore. Think that was due to the boots I chose for the trip, they were pretty big and made down shifting a little harder, but they were insulated and also had a Goretex lining, which I think helped keep my feet dry for quite a long time on that 10 hour rain day.

Video of the Dragon, guess I started recording a little early, so its kind of long.

Crap! when I was piecing the video back together I must have muted the first section. Audio kicks in at the 17 to 18 minute mark.

Well at least you didn't have to fight the crowds!!!! I never want to do the Dragon in the rain and so far have been very lucky not too. Last trip called for 80% chance of rain and turned out to be beautiful all 3 days!

Pig trail has been closed most of the year because of a slide or something. Just reopened about a week or so ago.

leaving st.louis in the morning heading upthe great river road as far as we can make it in one day, and then we will see where that leads us to. that's the beauty of retirement, you can take your time. this is a good ride and very scenic.
