Default Fork Lock Tampered With!!!!

Hello all,

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but here goes. I was out last night watching UFC fights. After the fights a went to my 01' Fatboy, and unlocked the ignition. Then I tried unlocking the fork lock, and my key would not go in. I looked at the lock, and it looked like someone tampered with it. The barrel was stuck halfway between the lock, and unlock slots. There was no way for my key to fit in the lock. I called my local shop, but being a Sunday they didn't have anyone in service. The only advise they gave me was to maybe call a locksmith. So I turn you the brilliant minds here on the forum. Hope someone can steer me in the right direction.

Thanks

There is a set screw that holds the fork lock in place.

If you remove the screw, you should be able to turn the lock where it unlocks your forks and be able to pull it out so it can be replaced.

I'm Not sure where this set screw is suppose to be found. I drove out there to see if I could locate it, but found nothing. Guess I'll have to talk to the local shop in the morning.

Just cut that little tit off the barrel key. Then you can stick it into the lock right where you need to stick it.

I used to take a pair of dikes and grab the tit and put the other end of the dyke jaw up against the barrel part and snip that tit right off.

Or if you have a grinder grind the tit off the key.

I'm wondering how the barrel could be moved without a key...but then, I'm not a criminal trying to steal a bike. I thought the OP was going to say someone glued it.

Someone else cut off the tit on their key.

Using your finger, from the center of the fork lock cylinder (where you put your key in) go directly down until you feel a step in the neck. Under that step is a hole for a hex or a torx wrench.

Some **** did the same thing to my sadlebag lock once, I took one of my spare keys like other described and ground of the tit, worked like a charm. Since I have 4 keys, no problem sacrificing one for the cause.
