Work on Friends Bikes
How many of you do work on bikes for your friends? Is it for free or charge. ? I've done a lot of work for friends over the years. Mostly for free but I choose what job I'll do or not.

I do the same
I work on my friends bikes all the time.i enjoy it as much as riding one,in fact got a buddy's bike in my shop now.tomorrow we are going to change cam tensioners in it tomorrow and put new brake rotors on front.he bring the beer and we work on bike. |
I do also.
I enjoy it and its more time with friends. Bought a NOMAR tire changer, saves us a fortune. |
I usually accept beer as a form of payment, but don't require it.
|
I do all the time. Rarely are my motorcycles the only ones in the shop. I built a 28x32 last year, put 2 lifts in and it's sole purpose is motorcycles. Thing I like is having the tools and supplies on hand to do almost anything except machining. Most of my buddies don't have the amount of tools or a lift to do what they want. Beer is usually the payment. My friends are few, but they are family and are welcome to the space and the tools any time.

I have the best garage and the most tools on my street; have helped friends/neighbors many times but work with them, never for them...
|
My mechanical skills are so limited that my friends would probably pay me to stay away while they work on their bikes.
|
I don't know anyone within 75 miles of me that rides.
|
The key word here is "Friends".
If you charge for your time then IMO they are not truly a friend. |
i do all the time. we've done complet builds in my garage, including paint. the key word is close friends. i've had people pay me or treatme to a nice dinner and drinks many times over the years. i've always enjoyed working on the bikes with buddies and drinking beer out in the garage. now when i'm painting and prefer to be alone.
