Adjusting rear brake pedal on Sportster

I have a 2011 1200 Sportster with forward controls. The brake pedal is at too high of an angle that I have to lift my foot completely off the peg to hit the brakes. Is there anyway of adjusting this. There is no self adjusting screw on the end of the brake rod. The local Harley dealer said i would need to buy a new forward control set but I don't think I need to do all of that. The rod appears to be 19 inches and not sure if they make a 16-17 inch one that might solve my problem.

Use the search feature on the Sportster forum and see if you can come up with anything.

Can't cut the rod and re-thread because it is a solid rod with no threading ends.
