Certificate of conformity
Hello all,
I have a Harley Davidson 1994 sportster I bought in the uk, I've now moved to France and and am desperately trying to import the motorcycle but obtaining the certificate of conformity is a nightmare. I've been advised to contact each individual HD dealership - which I have with no response from. Is there anyone out there that can help or advise me? Thanking you in advance M |
Sounds like our version of a
USDOT certification, this would be the process of making or ensuring that the bike met US emissions and safety requirements. Not a bunch of dealers that have the desire to put up the money to become a DOT certification location. |
Did you give a call to Harley Davidson Customer Care? Just maybe they might be able to help you. I don't know if HD made a "International" version of the sportster back in 1994.
Harley-Davidson customer care representative please call 1-800-258-2464 or (414) 343-4056 |
You can make any type of certificate you want with a Microsoft Word template.
But that would be deceitful. Forget I mentioned it. |
I am curious if you had any luck with the Certificate of conformity. My wife and I are considering moving to France and taking the Harley. I know they try to stop gray market bikes, but think that there is an exemption.

I thought this was going to be a discussion about higher education!

If the Sportster conformed with US standards when it was sold it should conform with French standards..unless it is modified.
But then again, you are dealing with the EU, government bureaucracy out of control. I think one of these forms is what the OP needs. http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=...igin&FORM=IGRE |
Any chance the Brit equivalent of the Dept of Motor Vehicles would deal with that? Or be able to give you info on who could?
