The best I can advise you is that it is possible.
They both have the same part number. The last two digits reflect the year that part was introduced. Any trailing letter indicates a revision of the part for that year. So, the part, 60293, was changed in 2000 (-00) from the 1996 model year (-96A). It means is that it was revised or changed in some way. The change may not necessarily be a difference in the part itself. It could be the manufacturing process but it could also mean the spacing of the bolts as well ???
2000 WG
Part number 60293-00
1996 SG
Part number 60293-90A
To me, they look similar but can't say they are identical. It is up to you to decide if it is worth purchasing the 2000 part and seeing if it fits the '96 SG.
Good luck.
