Default UK Q plated bike - register in France

Hi peeps, first post here!

Got a Q plate Harley in the UK, Q plate means that the age of the bike is not verified because it has no VIN, it has been gound off, same with the frame number.

It was bought by the previous owner from an insurance company as a stolen recovered bike.

It is used on the road therefore as a Q plated bike, which means it can't be alocated an age related plate.

This means I have a problem getting a certificate of conformity for it as HD doesn't want to know due to there being no vin number:-(

And this means I can't reregister it in France so I can use it there.

Has any one had a similar problem and can help or advise?

Cheers

Steve

Buy another frame and swap everything over. If your in France, a French one would be best. You could always buy a frame and stamp in those numbers, but would be illegal. Depends on how dodgy you are.

Yes, buying a frame the right year is not so easy though! Registered in uk even harder. All I want to do is ride it, bloody rules!

Can they pull any information from the ECU (assuming it's late model EFI)?

Move back to England. France sucks. I know; I've been there.

No ECU, its a 1985 model we think.

England, lovely, but riding weather is limited, but in France there are dry sunny days all year round!

Buy some water proofs. A bit of rain won't hurt you.

Buy an S&S crankcase and use the MSO to title the bike.

Not sure if it's as simple as that in the uk. I could buy a delcron case as the original is weak in places and I was recommend to do it.
