Default clear plastic film to protect paint

when i removed the stock seat there was a plastic film underneath to protect the paint. needless to say on my denim paint job after removal you could still see the silhouette. annoying, but oh well.

anyways now that the lady wants to go 2-up i bought a pillion pad and fabricated her a sissy bar and such, but i'm looking to find some more of that plastic film that is easily removable once she is off the bike. anyone know where i can get some?

disclaimer: i already checked with tint companies in the area, and although they had some of that 3m paint protector film stuff, they all said that getting it on and off is a pain in the butt. i'm just looking for some temporary stuff here. any ideas?

Find a seat with a fabric underside.

tiny piece of fabric might be fine on regular clear coat. not on this denim paint junk. the pillion has a "felt" like material under it. absolutely useless for paint protection

Take a look at tool box liner. It's rubberized netting-like stuff in a roll and you can cut it to size. I have a roll of it made by protek. It doesn't actually stick to the paint but won't slip around.

A window screen shop should have what you need. Screened in patio covers use a clear vinyl for windows. I believe it will work fine for your application.

3M makes a few products like this. One comes in sheet form and they also have one that sprays on from a rattle can. You might also think about Plasti-Dip.

Absolutly shelf liner stuff. I found some at wallyworld in black. It's thick rubber, soft, and comes in a roll. I cut it to match the pillion footprint. I only use it when pillion is on. Be sure to wipe the fender off good before using it. If the fender is dirty the pillion and the pad will grind the dirt in the fender as your smokingly hot passenger wiggles around.
