Hello, i just wanted to know how can i take off the emblem off my gas tank without doing any damage to the paint. I want to put a new emblem on my street bob. Has anyone done this?

 

If there are no screws visible, you can use fishing line or even dental floss, work it behind emblems and act like a saw, up and down. Some of the emblems have screws and some are strictly 3 m tape. the remaining sticky can be removed with wd40 or prep sol kind of cleaner. good luck

 

Also use a hair dryer to soften up the adhesive before you use the floss or fishing line.

 

Also, if you want to use something from a different model you may have to bend them slightly to match the contour of your tank. I have tank emblems off a fat boy on my bob and they had to be reshape to match to the curve of my tank.

If your wife or someone you know has green floral tying wire it works awesome. Has a slight green coating of some kind that doesn't scratch. I pick the large residue off with a finger nail. Naphtha or Acetone will remove the rest but use it sparingly on a cloth rag. If you have any cuts on your fingers use gloves as the shxx burns.

 

Here you go. Ignore how dirty the bike is....

+1...small diameter fishing line or dental floss. Follow up with a lil kerosene or goo gone to remove the glue. Clean the left over residue and wax it. Done deal.
