High Idle on 2016 models
Just purchased a new (2016) Heritage Softail, and this bike idles WAY to fast to suit me (1,000 RPM). My older Road King with the Marelli ECM, was able to idle down to 600. Dealer said they couldn't lower it any more. I know there has to be a back door way to accomplish this. This bike has NO throttle cables, strictly "drive by wire" system.

I've experimented with different idle RPM's, altering it through the Power Vision. I've got an oil pressure gauge and at a -100 there's no change to oil pressure at idle. At a -150 you'll see a reduction in oil pressure; at -200 the oil pressure barely registers on the gauge.
If you want to lower your idle, past a -100 is asking for issues; and as Tommy C posted, why beat the crankpin and rods? A Twin Cam isn't a Pan or Shovel...

Actually why it's there is the fuel injection system, emissions and such. Of course new, there probably would be no problem but as things get older and different weather conditions, much lower, there would be a tendency for a stall.
It's not the oil. There is plenty of oil for the brief period a Harley idles. In fact, the oil injectors at the cylinders base do not even work till above idle speed to prevent overheating the oil at idle.
