Is this still the preferred rain gear?
After doing a couple of searches, it looks like this is the preferred rain suit:

But all the threads were a few years old. So before I spring for this one, I would appreciate any up to date info.
Thanks,
Brad

agreed, compared to what? I know people that love them. I don't see the advantage in paying that much more for the HD than for others. You will hopefully NEVER use it. So why have hundreds sitting in the saddlebag.
I have a Tourmaster Defender 2 piece suit that I have had for 10 years and worn it twice. It was $70. still fits and works great.

I personally don't have anything to compare it to. That's kind of what I'm asking. Based on much of what I read, at least as of 2013 the HD stuff seamed to be the winner. But i'm in no way married to that HD brand. If I can save some bucks and still stay dry, I'm all in.
I have a road trip coming up in two weeks and will need some rain gear. Just looking for some suggestions based on experience.
Thanks,
Brad

I bought and like this one; http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...-vis-rain-suit The reason I choose it was the zippered vents. Here in AZ during the monsoon it is hot so you can open the vents to help cool.

I went for the Olympia Rain gear, (about $175 pants & Jacket) great visibility and keeps me as dry as rain gear can and is made for motorcycling, a lot of adjustability and heat resistant patches on the inside of the lower legs, but I have read that the HighVis HD gear is very good as well.

They are all good and some would ( undoubtedly ) excel in an area that another may fall short in. That being said, depending on how much rain you may encounter for how long will ultimately determine the "performance" of the rain gear. I'm pretty sure that there isn't a suit out there that will keep you completely dry in ALL circumstances, except maybe a divers dry suit. Myself I can't see spending $300.00 on rain gear.
