Default Happy ears...

With all the mods I've done to the 103, with the added horse power and thundering pipes, it was almost impossible to hear the stereo. I checked on line for a little help and found a product that not only knocks the loud sharpness off the pipes, but seems to make the stereo a more audible, even at higher speeds. They are called Dubs Acoustic Filters. The other half likes them and you know if the other half is happy, you'll be happy...

How about installing some baffles if the pipes are too loud? I never understood running loud *** pipes and wearing ear plugs.

Loud *** pipes are for the cars who are busy with things other than paying attention to the road.

Ear plugs are for blocking the noise from the wind.

Should have explained. I hace a 2014 FLHTCU, and yes it has a stereo. I took the OEM exhaust off and replaced it with true duals. Replaced the stock mufflers with Vance and Hines Monster Round slip ons. Didn't touch the guts of the mufflers. It did increase the bark a bit.

Are they comfortable during long rides? And comfortable while wearing a helmet?

My wearing ear plugs has zero to do with my pipes. It has everything to do with wind noise. I lost enough of my hearing working around running jets. I want to preserve what little hearing I have left.

There are many pipes louder than mine (stock Rinehart) and this debate will go on forever, BUT. Last week I was traveling I-85 in the passing lane and could not move ahead or back. Finally did pass and after a few miles and later I exited for a fuel stop.

I was re-fueling and a fellow pulled up behind me for the same reason. He walked up to look at the bike, nice fellow, and commented about our passing on the Interstate. (turns out he has been a Harley owner since May)

I always leave a margin of safety between me and whatever I am following. Which is good and bad because it also leaves a space for someone to slide in. He told me for the period of time that I was in his blind spot he was well aware of my presence because he could hear me.

Said he made a mental note of this because he was getting ready to 'slide in' behind the vehicle in front of me.

Don't know exactly what to take away from this other than don't stay in a drivers bling spot any longer than you have to and don't whisper.
