Default Primary Fluid change

Hello all,

Sorry if this is already posted but I don't have time to search as my motorcycle is half in and half out of the garage and it is starting to get dark.

I have a 2010 HD Ultra Limited 103ci engine with 6 speed tranny. I am changing the primary fluid and ran into something I don't know the answer too. I purchased the bike with 28,907 miles on it and do not know the service history.

I drained the primary fluid and removed the derby cover. I had purchased the Formula+ oil and a gasket. The gasket is # 25416-99C. When I removed the derby cover it has no gasket. It has a big "O-ring". The owners manual says to remove the "O-ring" but does not say weather to replace the "O-ring" or use the gasket. Does this gasket go with the 2010 HD Ultra Limited or does it go to a different year? Will it work? Does this replace the "O-ring"?

Thanks!

You can use either. I wouldn't use both. I prefer the gasket myself.

^^what DMetcalf said. Remove the o-ring and use your new gasket.

Ditto on the gasket. My '07 Manual also says O-Ring but the first time I pulled the cover it had a gasket instead. I've had that cover off multiple times and continue using the same gasket with no issues.

The O-Ring is for factory Derby Covers (meaning it rolled off the assembly line with it).

The gasket mentioned is for all other Derby Covers (even HD Derby covers from the parts and accessories catalog).

But also as mentioned, that gasket can be used on any of them.
Just remove the 0-Ring, you don't want to use them both.

Exactly the same here.
2007 Road Glide with the original o-ring gasket.
Just shy of 70,000.
Original gasket has never leaked.
