Default 2000 Super Glide Help

Not sure if I'm able to post yet so if I'm not mods let me know.
Here's a little background on my bike.
2000 Dyna Super Glide Sport.
I purchased it with 3,369 miles on it a month ago.
Bike is in great condition, bought it from a retired cop that couldn't ride anymore due to work related injuries.
So here's the issue I've been having. I've had the bike for a month and put around a 1000 miles on it. My speedometer started cutting out and my digital display is going off and on. I will also get an engine lite on the speedo. I've checked all the connections, looked for corrosion and checked to make sure they are all tight. Everything looks good. What do you think could be the problem, what are the major problems with this model? Thanks in advance .

Have you pulled the speedo pickup on the transmission and cleaned it off?

Hey Mark, thanks for the reply. I actually changed it a week after I bought the bike. It stopped working completely. I replaced it with a thunderheart sensor from J&P Cycles. I pulled it out and checked it and it was clean.

I didn't mention in my previous reply that after I changed out the sensor everything was working fine. So I went out on the bike last night and my turn signals aren't working right. sometimes they work and other times they stay solid and won't blink. This is when the engine light comes on. I'm thinking either the speed sensor is bad or the speedometer head is bad.

Yeah, I thought that as well. I've checked all the connections twice. There's no noticeable corrosion on any of the connections. I've been told that the fxdx models had speedo head issues but I don't want to start throwing parts at it and hope I find a fix. Especially when it's over 300.00 for a new one.

Did you check the battery and connections to the battery.

yep checked those to. I just went out to see if I had any codes on the speedo and I did. DTC8 came up with a code. So I googled it and looks like the voltage regulator isn't sending the proper voltage at certain rpm's.
