Default Thoughts on black

Seems like most bikes I'm finding that interest me are black. I've never owned a black vehicle because I always hated that you could see every imperfection in the paint (Swirl marks, etc.). What do you guys think of black paint?

If properly taken care of it shouldn't be a problem.

The painted area on a bike is so much smaller than a car, upkeep is really not a problem with a good polish and soft cloth.

I joke with people about what Henry Ford said about color "you can have any color you want so long as it's black". Yes HD has a lot of black bikes, I've been using Turtle Wax Black Box kit.

Black and chrome is the best combination in my opinion. But you can see the imperfections better.

All I've ever had was black BUT the red color HD has is a darker red and not the fire truck red that I hate. I missed get a red bike by a week, when I got my current bike.

All my HD's have been black. My wife's Sporty is black and silver, and the silver definitely does not show dirt as bad, but black is not that big of a deal to take care of. Also, on my CVO I have clear film over most of the paint and it makes all of the swirl marks disappear. Wipe it off and you are good to go.

I repainted my Softail three years ago. It was Luxury Blue oem color that was real sharp but I opted for vivid black. My paint looks as good today as when it came out of the booth and many people ask me if I just had it painted. If you take care of it there's not reason for swirls and hairline scratches. Don't let the bikini girls at the rally wash it, use Zaino products, border free towels, micro fiber cloths and you can have a show looking bike for years. My bike looks wet and you can use the bobtail fender as a large mirror when there's not one around.

I agree, my black Springer still looks great, even though she is a little over 11 years old.
