Default PSA for those trailering

If you have a newer bike, and are trailering to Sturgis, make sure you put the bike in transport mode.
I watched two couples unload their baggers from an enclosed trailer this morning, and both batteries were dead. The alarms were probably going off the whole time, whenever the trailer hit a bump. They were trying to jump start the bikes with their truck running.
Newer riders...It was kind of funny, but it wasn't.

you know there are a myriad of reasons why someone may have their bike on a trailer. just because you choose not to, does not make you any better than them. nor does it make them 'a danger' to others just because they choose to.

the wife and I have 2 roadglides. we try to take at least 2 'long-ish' rides per year on them. but, we are looking into getting a trailer for the bikes so that we can get to our destination spot quicker and spend more time riding there, instead of spending 3 days blasting down the interstate to get there, spend 2 days there, and then blast 3 days back..... with the truck and trailer, we can take one long day to get there, spend 5 days there, and one long day to get back.

if that makes me a rub, so be it. idgaf.

Criminey! When did owning a motorcycle become so dang complicated? You realize you people aren't exactly making Uncle G. want to buy a new Harley.

Seriously, if the alarm was "going off the whole time" and they couldn't hear it, well, I just don't know.

They may not have had the siren module so just the lights were flashing.

Wouldn't it be better if the people who have no business being on a motorcycle have a dead battery after unloading their bikes from a trailer than to have them cause accidents on the road and ruin it for everyone else?

Man I can't wait to get there Saturday. I know I am going to do something stupid that will probably show up here. But also I will sit and laugh as someone else does something stupid, maybe even the same stupid thing I did.

I think good on the OP for throwing out that little reminder. As we all know trip planning has a lot of steps and a small one like that which you would maybe never have done before is easy to miss.

Enclosed trailer...the bikes were probably lit up like a Xmas tree, but they would never know.
I walked over when they started hooking one of the bikes to the truck, and suggested not starting the truck in order to avoid ruining whatever new technology is involved, but they were busy doing it anyway, calling Rapid City HD, HOG Roadside assistance, etc. so I left.

I love my old stuff.
