Painfull summer
On my wallet that is.
Early June, new compensator, new clutch. $1100.00 parts and labor.
Early August, New ABS control module and new pads. $1200.00 parts and labor.
Early September, Getting ready to go out for a nice Sunday ride this labor day weekend. Pull the bike out, go and grab the helmets and sissy bar for my girl. Start walking towards the bike from the rear and notice that there is a huge golf ball size bubble in my 2 year old rear Dunlop D04 touring tire WTF!!!!! Don't know when it happened, or why it happened. Only about 5000 miles on the tire, always inflated to 45lbs. I am fanatical about going over everything and making sure tires and such are ready for the ride. Dealer has one in stock for $245.00 plus install.
I guess the pain could have been much worse if I did'nt notice it and the tire blew while me and my girl we were tooling down the road.
Oh well I guess it is possible to be thankful and pissed all at the same time.

I do know the feeling!
I have a brand new tire on my '94 that started leaking air. It has less than 500 miles on it. It has 100 on it when I found out it had a leak. I've checked for nails, etc. Nothing.. Have to pull it and put it in a tub. I'm thinking it is leaking from the bead.. :-(

I have always run about 45lbs of air in the rear. The spec calls for 42lbs. My indie has always recommended 45lbs, and I have found that a little over inflation keeps tire cupping to a minimum. Cant really see how 3 xtra pounds would cause an otherwise good tire to form a bubble, but stranger things have happened I guess.

I agree the tire is over inflated, You have to remember for every 10 degrees of temperature you gain roughly 1 psi. If you inflated on lets say at 75 degrees and ride on a 85 degree day you already gained pressure. Run down the highway when you get off put your hand on the tire and feel how hot it gets. You could be 50 psi or more. I put 40 front and rear in my bikes, help prevent cupping in the front.

Bat luk, happens to us all at times. Never a good thing!
What got mu interest was the ABS module going bad, I've heard nothing but bad thing in regards to the Harley ABS system. The last time at HD I walked out to a nail in the rear tire with less than 400 miles on it, seems I picked it up near the store. While they had it back there manager said they did a software update on my ABS. Really, a software update?
I still have to wonder about that one.
