Default VROD motor in a touring bike?

Why hasn't harley done this yet? The Vrod motor is probably the best motor that they make yet no hope of seeing it in the Street Glide or Ultra. I think it would be a great seller and they already own the technology....just do it already!!! I want one...and I don't care that it won't shake the bolts loose or make potato sounds. Lets get with the program already! We don't need the Milwaukee 8, we need the Porsche Power! Could you imagine if they punched that engine to 1800??

It seems like a logical progression to me too. The existing customer base seems to be pretty resistant to something like this. The "Soul" of the bike would be lost without the appearance, the noise, the shake, and the overall "clunkiness" as compared to other touring machines, such as BMW.

Some say the Vrod motor is too peaky, or makes it's power too high in the rpm range. Maybe so. But it seems pretty obvious that the air cooled motors days are numbered due to emissions laws and the inherent limitations of making more power and still being able to shed the heat.

More power=more heat.

Personally, I think it's just a matter of time. But that's just my opinion.
I've been wrong before.....once. That was when I thought I was wrong....but I was wrong to think that.

With the new M8, it's not likely to happen in a dedicated touring frame. The V-Rod is also scheduled to get the axe.

I typically do not buy brand new bikes from the dealer. HOWEVER, a VRod powered touring bike would peak my interest!

I had a VRod Street Rod model and loved that motor but ultimately went back to a touring bike for the long haul comfort!

Hmmm, if the VRod is getting the axe, then they need a place to put the motor.

Hmmmm.....

vrod engine was spawned from a racing engine. It just doesn't have the character to be in a cruiser or touring bike. I don't want to be cruising around with an engine that's happy at 9,000 rpm

Simple cam change & narrow the intake runners and you'd have lots more torque at a lower RPM.

Touring lineup is MoCo's bread and butter...meaning the Big Twins will continue to live in those frames for as long as they can pass the EPA. With the M8, that's at least another 10+ years
