Default Nephews Project

My 18yr old nephew picked this up and rode it over to the house today..an 86..his first HD. Asked me and my brother, his dad, if we could help him get it back in shape. What a project! Aint a piece of glass or sheet metal that aint been scratched ,gouged, cracked or broke. LOL! Actualy runs, rides and shifts ok. Once in a while turn bars far left everything quits. Carb could use going over...drips some gas out of the vent line when you shut it down. Told him we'd help, if he strips it down to the frame and motor, and repair and paint all the body work and help him find parts and pieces that aint salvagable. Lots and lots of work on this one...but how many 18yr olds would even be interested in a bike like this. Guess it runs in the family....lol Zoom in on the pic and you can see all the nastys. It looks a lot different in the pic..wish it was in as good of shape as the pic makes it look.

LOL that's the same bike I shipped to Europe then rode the hell out of for a month and half. Mechanically it's a beast, solid as hell but pop some of the covers on that fairing and the wiring bundles are huge and the dropping out issue sounds like a tired or loose molex connector in there.

Pass this to the kid please he's got a set on him I like him.

Nice project for the man! A little fiberglass repair, new chrome or powder coating of some parts and he'll have a life long bike there! Looks like it came with a battery lead for heated gear installed, winter is coming!
