Default Fixing rubbed marks on tank.

When I went to install my Mustang seat yesterday, I noticed the stock seat rubbed the crap out of the paint on the tank.

I can't feel scratches, just have nasty rubbed spots. The Mustang seat doesnt cover them.

What can be used to hand buff them out?

Is it thru the paint to the metal?

Nope. Just on top of the clear. It was rubbing REALLY hard.

I can't "feel" anything.

I had some rub marks in the clearcoat on the sides of my tank and fixed it with some fine polishing compound and my 3" random orbital polisher.

Meguires "scratch x" followed by polish and wax. No machine needed.

If the clear has been compromised its all over. You will just make it worse.
Start with fine rubbing compound and a soft cloth by hand. See what happens.
