Default Heated vest or jacket liner?

Being in New England i want to ride as long as I can. Looking for any advice if a heated vest will be okay or should I pay more for heated sleeves too.

Thinking the vest might be enough and less expensive than the whole coat with heated sleeves too. Most reviews on the $450 full blown heated coat are good
and say not much is needed under it or you will get too hot. I have a good leather jacket with enough room to wear a heated vest or coat under, so did not really want to spend 450 on another coat.

Any experience would be appreciated from those who use heated vests. Is it enough or do you wish you had the heated sleeves too.

I have both the vest and the jacket liner. The advantage of the jacket liner over the vest, besides the heated sleeves, is that the sleeves have a wire already in place for heated gloves. Both work great.

I have both a liner and a vest. The liners is a much better choice. My Gerbings also has a heated collar which is very nice in cold weather. The difference that you have to pay for a liner is well worth it.

No brainer. Warm arms, or cold arms? Get the liner. Plug the gloves into the sockets on the end of the sleeves.

And this^^.

You'll find that if you try to get by with a single channel controller, when it's really cold you'll have a choice between comfy core and cold hands, or comfy hands and sweaty core.

All of the above.

With a liner (heated sleeves, collar, and connector for gloves if needed), you have everything you need to ride well into the colder weather.

And that dual controller is very nice!
Although an added expense, you will be glad you have it.
You can do without, and just run the jacket off its supplied on/off switch if you want.
But you will be constantly turning the switch on or off, as the jacket get very warm.

Trying to get by without a controller can easily result in second degree burns and blisters. Wouldn't recommend trying it.

Works great for me..liner, gloves (run small), pants, controller...the gloves have their own built in temp control...

Ive ridden in the low 20s no problem...thats ambient temp...

The new Harley liner has a built in controller with 3 settings. Works fine. I also have a dual controller that I don't use since I got the new liner.
