What apes should I go with?
I'm 5'10 and thinking about getting some apes on my bike during this winter i need opinions on which ones to go with. I looked at the 14" corlini evil apes wondering where the bars will sit in correlation to my shoulders and how good do these apes look on a softail slim

Why do you say that Apes will make handling worse??

Then there's the fact that riding became pain free once installed apes.

This should be easy, since they're on the vast majority of the bikes today...even on some that look silly with them. And I'm not talking about the cartoon looking ape hangers.

I have Carlini (16" Flying Apes), Wild One Chubby (18" Psycho Apes), and HCC 14" Bagger Apes on my bikes. The Carlini are very well made, but on the pricey side and the Flyin Apes come 1" higher than the measured height. Lots of choices with Carlini (Flyin, Evil, and many more). The Wild One Apes are also quality, but not as many choices and you need to check the width of the bars as some can be very wide. The width on the Wild Ones are 6"+ wider than the Carlini that I have. The width of the bars is something you need to look at in addition to the height. All my bars are 1 1/4", but a 1 1/2" might be something to consider. Ron (I am 6 feet tall)

Because clearly he has no experience riding with apes. At a certain point ridiculously large apes would be a problem of course, but 14" or 16" apes are fine, and as you point out there are pluses from a handling perspective from apes.

p.s. OP, since you said that you are 5'10 I think 14's might be just right for you but that will be up to you to make the final decision.
