Default Has anyone done this to their engine.

I am thinking of wrapping the header pipes on my 103. Just wondering has anyone done this and is there any advantage to do this on a 103. I know stock car use it to cut down heat, but these cars have little to none of insulation. Is there any heat or an increase in performance? Inquiring minds need to know...

It'll cut down on the heat you feel on your right leg, no performance enhancements.
If you wash the bike or ride in the rain, it can trap water rotting out the pipes if you don't burn off the water.

Yeah race cars wrap the headers to improve the flow of exhaust gases out of the pipes. But a tenth of a horsepower can make or break a race. You'll see no noticeable difference in performance. They are purely aesthetic for a street bike.

Once you wrap, you can't go back - if you decide you don't like the look you'll have to replace the pipes as the wrap does havoc to the finish

You will also void the warranty on whatever pipes you wrap.

I would take your stock pipes off and tuck them away encase you ever want to go back.

Buy a cheap pipe and wrap it, if you don't like it throw it on ebay.

Did it. No real help in the heat dept and as mentioned, it will wreck the pipes eventually. Looked pretty ratty after a short while. I wouldn't repeat.

Hard to do a good looking job; will look crappy shortly thereafter and will rot pipes out because of retained heat shortly thereafter.
