HD catalytic converter ?????
I am sure this has been talked about here several time. I need suggestions and opinions. I have a close riding friend who has owned several HD's in the past and is a current owner. He recently bought a 2016 SG CVO. He stated it didn't seem to have the power that it should so he did some checking around and came up with.........removing the catalytic converter (from a prior take off, keep original for future ?) and had HD tuned, he is also running Rinehart 4" slip-ons. He now states all done opened it up and runs like it should. He also stated he should have went with the Vance and Hines fuelpak fp3 instead of the HD
I have the stock 2014 Ultra limited with Rinehart 4" slip-ons and thought I would do the same. I just ordered the header from WildHogPipes with the catalytic converter removed (special going on right now $100 shipped) also going to get a Vance and Hines fuelpak fp3 66005 and a high flow breather.
So now I need suggestions, opinions, pro's and con's, Should I or shouldn't I.

I have a 2015 Ultra Classic and I went with Vance & Hines Power Duals, Monster Rounds, FP3, and SE AC. I'm very happy with this setup. The FP3 is very easy to use and works well with a stage 1. I did a Rush System with a Power Commander on my previous Ultra and was very happy with that setup too. I think all of the major brands do a good job with R&D and it's just a matter of which one strikes your fancy at the time your ready to buy. Good Luck.....

The catalytic converter is restrictive on the 16 and earlier touring bikes. I run Fullsac head pipe, which fit under factory heat shield on my 13 CVO Road King, and ran the same on the 15 CVO Road Glide I just traded. Getting rid of the cat and a good tune is worth a several HP and Torque.
The new 17 catalytic converters are very restrictive, to the point a set of slip on hardly gives any more sound. I good headpipe with no cat will be worth a whole lot of HP.
Bad thing is 17 on HD is going to try to void warranty if you change the head pipe and tune.

I have a 2017 Street Glide, 107 stage 2 torque cam, it has the cat and it's the fastest Harley I've ever driven, and that includes the 110"S models. I don't think a catylitic converter is that much off a factor when building horsepower. Look at the Corvettes and Vipers, both have cats and both rip.
